FAQs

How can I contact you?

My preferred method of communication is email: therapy@annaponderlcsw.com. You can also contact me by phone at (214)908-8863.

Who do you work with in your practice?

I primarily work with young adults (ages 18-35) from all walks and ways of life. I am proud to work with a diversified set of clients.

I have never been to therapy, what can I expect?

Firstly, you can expect the warmest of welcomes from me. I know starting therapy can feel intimidating and sharing vulnerably with a new person can bring up nervousness for many reasons. In each of our sessions you can expect that I will deeply listen, ask thoughtful questions, and help you work towards goals at a pace that feels right for you. Iā€™m here to meet you exactly where you are at.

What is therapy really like?

Therapy can look different depending on personality styles, communication styles, motivation and goals. Typically, therapy include reflecting on events in the past, identifying patterns of thinking and behaving, communicating what and how we feel and developing insight into how to grow and move forward. While there may be some initial anxiety, you should feel comfortable enough with your therapist to be honest, authentic and open to trying new things.

Why did you become a therapist?

:) My favorite. The short answer is I have a heart for serving others, and I knew I wanted to choose a career that gave back to this world. The human experience can be beautiful, and at times incredibly complex and difficult. We all need support to help us move through the different seasons of our lives. I am continuously grateful that I have found a deep purpose for the opportunity to walk alongside others as they navigate this journey of life

What are your hours? And how often should I come to therapy?

I attempt to return phone calls within 24 hours, however email is often the easiest and fastest way to reach me. I offer virtual sessions by appointment on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I have evening availability as well. Generally, I schedule sessions with clients weekly or bi-weekly. As we continue to move along in your healing journey, we assess the right plan for you.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. However, there are exceptions. For example, if a client is a danger to themselves, others or discloses the abuse of a minor or elder the therapist is mandated to make a report to proper authorities. Also, for insurance to accept a claim and disperse payment for services rendered a diagnosis and some assessment details must be submitted to the insurance company.
